Let's Get Naive

Love it that someone was feeling so blue that they would paint this on a wall near my school. And like my previous post, their sentiment is made all the more great in that they used such an awesome word, but they misspelled it. Which makes me love them more. The graffiti was at my university which just causes me to go into ecstatic convulsions.

And this fine fellow was staring at you as you took a pee at 7B in New York City. While the bar has changed a lot since I used to visit it far too often in the late '90s (too many chowderheads that can't, can't appreciate that amazing jukebox), this guy staring me down, trying to make me pee shy made the trip worth it.

Kill Dozer

I left school today to this thumping sound that reminded me of the cymbals and percussion that helped drive Jack over the edge in the Shining. When I walked to my Vespa I found that the building across the way was being consumed by a mechanized monster. It was the most awesome thing I've ever seen--they were just jamming the claw of the dozer into the side of the eviscerated building, tearing out its guts piece by piece. It was like a Terminator nightmare but really fun.

Why didn't I think to go into that line of work?

Milky Weird

This commercial really weirds me out. Man gets rejected, opens candy bar. Inside is a woman who delivers adoring comments. "Why so blue, panda bear?" Man laughs and then bites her head off. It's like a bad dream! First, who keeps a candy bar in their car? Second, who eats a candy bar right after getting rejected? I mean right after? Does anyone do that?

Salon talks about the misogynistic undercurrent which is even more disturbing. Seriously, will this make you buy a candy bar?

Sushi in My Bedroom

This is my old building in NYC. The only difference from when I lived there is that my bedroom was the one with the second level awnings.

So we went to eat at the restaurant when we visited the city last week, and we ATE IN MY BEDROOM! I don't know if it was really exciting or kind of gross given all the things I did in that room. Either way, it was entertaining and the sushi was de-licious.

Robot Donkey

This is a pretty incredible robot, and yet kind of creepy as well. Be sure to watch it through the different tests--snow, uneven surfaces, even a guy trying to kick it over. I didn't even realize that research had gotten that far in stability and equilibrium. Love you, li'l donkey robot!

Check out Boston Dynamics, the company that developed this bot and you will see that our future in Iraq will probably be coming from their labs. War will turn into a giant video game combat simulation. The question is how long will the 3-D simulations put up with that shit before Sarah Connor gets a visit from the future?

High and Low Graffiti Art

This was painted on the sidewalk in LA. I just love how it almost looks like a primitive cameo with gum stuck to it.

This is a prime example of one of my favorite types of street art. While I doubt that the creator had the intention of making me look twice at his declaration, the misuse of "your" does just that. Then I can only marvel at the ferocity of the teeth above the insult. It really made my walk back from Rudyards special.
